How can I use 10% discount to buy new licenses?

A 10% discount on the purchase of a new license of one of MAXON's selected commercial apps can be used if you own an older permanent version of Cinema 4D or a license of Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe AfterEffects, subject to the conditions below.

Conditions for owners of an older permanent version of Cinema 4D

  • you must own any permanent commercial version of Cinema 4D (except Cinema 4D CE 6 special edition)
  • license must be registered to the same entity you will be purchasing the current software at a discount
  • you can get a discount on one older permanent license to purchase one new annual license of selected MAXON software

For Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe AfterEffects users

To get the discount on Cinema 4D purchase, you must activate Cinema 4D Lite, which comes free as an add-on for AfterEffects. Install AfterEffects (there may be a trial version) and follow the instructions below:

Installing Cinema 4D Lite
  • make sure you don't have full or trial Cinema 4D installed on your computer - if you do, uninstall the program or use another computer
  • install Adobe After Effects - the installation will also install the Cinema 4D LITE add-on (if Cinema 4D LITE is not installed, it can be retrofitted via Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, click Manage Add-ons for After Effects)
Cinemy 4D Lite activation
  • If you don't already have one, set up a my.maxon.net user account with MAXON
  • Be warned: use the same email address you will use to buy MAXON software at a discount
  • launch Adobe After Effects CC, create a new project, and use File / New / Maxon C4D File... to insert a new Cinemy 4D 3D object into the project
  • confirm where the new file is saved
  • drag the object into the project scene window
  • At this point, Cinema 4D Lite should launch in the background and prompt for a user login (if you have a full or trial version of Cinema 4D installed on your computer, you will be prompted to specify whether to open Cinema 4D LITE or the full/trial version of Cinema 4D - select Cinema 4D LITE)
  • After logging into the MAXON License Manager, you should see Cinema 4D Lite in the list (see the following. image below) and on the right side the Activate button, which you can CLICK to confirm the activation of the product to your user account
  • then the activation is complete and you can place an order to upgrade to any of the selected MAXON products with a discount for the first year - make sure the order field is filled in with the same email/account where you activated the Cinema 4D LITE license.

Do you also offer perpetual licenses?

No, from 1.1.2024 MAXON offers all of its products only as time-limited licenses. As a result, we are no longer able to order or deliver permanent licenses.

Can I later purchase additional licenses with the same expiration date?

Yes, some customers prefer a situation where all their licenses have the same expiration date regardless of when they bought them. Therefore, we are able to set the same expiration date for this new license as for the previous licenses if another license is later purchased for an existing user account.

The price of a license purchased in this way will be based on the formula: (standard annual price : 365) x the number of days remaining until the expiration date. If you are interested in purchasing licenses for an existing account, please contact us.

Are your licenses automatically renewed after one year?

No, our licenses have the auto-renewal feature disabled! We will contact you prior to the product expiration date (usually 30 days in advance) with a quote to extend the license for another year. Only if this is confirmed and the price is paid your license will be extended for another year.

Installation

I bought one of MAXON's programs from you, how do I install it?

A/ I had a trial version on my computer

Launch the Maxon App and make sure you are logged in with the same email you used to make your purchase. If not, sign out using the Sign Out command (see image below) and sign back in with the correct email.

B/ Maxon App has never been installed on your computer

Download Maxon App from https://www.maxon.net/en/downloads. Once you launch it and log in as a user, you can download and install the latest version of the MAXON product you purchased.

Where can I download the current MAXON installer?

To manage the installation of all MAXON programs on your computer, you can download the Maxon App at https://www.maxon.net/en/downloads. After launching it and logging in, you can download and install the latest versions of MAXON programs. If a new version of a MAXON program has been released since you installed it through the Maxon App, you will be able to install the new version by clicking the UPDATE button.

Can I have multiple versions of Cinema 4D installed on one computer?

Yes, this is possible. If you installed Cinema 4D via the Maxon App and then later upgraded to a new version of Cinema 4D, you will still have both the original and new versions of the program available on the disc. You can run the new version in the Maxon App environment, while the older version of Cinema 4D can be run by default via the Start menu in Windows (or Applications on macOS).

I want to install an older version of Cinema 4D than the current one, is that possible?

Yes, this is possible. Maxon normally allows you to install licenses 3 versions older than the current ones. Follow these steps:

  • If you don't have the Maxon App installed on your computer, download it from https://www.maxon.net/en/downloads and install it
  • Go to the Maxon App page and log in with your MAXON ID (email) for which you purchased the license
  • Do NOT install (!) through the Maxon App Cinema 4D, but download the https://www.maxon.net/en/downloads installer for the version of Cinema 4D you want, run it and install it.

Where can I find older updates for Cinema 4D?

Maxon offers to download older updates only for currently supported versions (typically 3 versions back). Links to downloads can be found here.

How do I switch the Cinema 4D UI to other language?

Start Cinem 4D and in the Edit menu, select the last Preferences item. Next, follow the picture below: in the left column, select Interface and on the right column, select Language and from the list of languages, select your required language. Restart the program.

How does license verification work?

All MAXON licenses (except for special licenses for RLM server) are verified on-line by checking whether the user has a license or not on the MAXON on-line license server when the program is started. If you have purchased one software license, you can use the program on one computer at any given time. Once you have finished working on that machine and logged out, you can use the license on any other machine.

Can I also work offline?

The first time you run the application on a given computer, you must be online to verify the license. Once you have successfully logged in, you will automatically be set a 14-day period to work offline. If you ever connect to the internet and start the MAXON application during this time, the offline period will be automatically set to 14 days again from this last successful login.

NOTICE: If you are working without an internet connection, MAXON programs will not be able to release the license from the MAXON license server when you stop working, so you can only use the license on one computer during this time.

What are the differences between individual, team and floating licences?

Individual licenses (so-called name licenses)

These licenses are issued to the email of a specific user (hereinafter referred to as MyMaxon ID) - and the first time you start any MAXON program, you must then enter this email and your chosen password into the central MAXON App. The user's email cannot be changed during the license period.

Team Licenses

These licenses are issued to the email of your designated license administrator who logs into MAXON's online license management system. Here, your administrator can flexibly assign or remove purchased licenses to different users in your company. The purchase of these licenses is contingent on the purchase of a minimum of THREE licenses. Additional licenses to an existing team account can be purchased individually.

Floating Team Licenses

These licenses work similarly to the team licenses above, except that within the online administration, your administrator can define teams of users and assign licenses to those teams, not just to specific users. In addition, you can assign a team a lower number of licenses than the number of users in the team. When a team user releases a license, it is available to another team member within 15 minutes. The purchase of these licenses is conditional on the purchase of at least FIVE licenses. Additional licenses to an existing team account with floating licenses can be purchased individually.
